Orange County District 5 Commissioner, Emily Bonilla, Endorses Orange County Mayoral Candidate Kelly Semrad

"Are you tired of fighting for your voice to be heard? Are you sick of the over development, urban sprawl, and traffic jams? Are you concerned about affordable housing? Are you worried about the environment, our water supply, and the destruction of wildlife habitat? Do you have issues in your community that elected officials seem to overlook? I answered YES to all these questions when I decided to run for Orange County District 5 Commissioner.

Today, we still have citizens fighting to be heard by elected officials. Little progress has been made to combat the greed of special interests taking over the needs of our community and environment. This is why I am endorsing Mayoral Candidate, Dr. Kelly Semrad in the 2022 Orange County Primary Election. All registered Orange County voters (including non-partisan/Independents) may vote for the Orange County Mayor by August 23.

I have known Kelly Semrad for nearly a decade. I met her during my own efforts to fight for sustainable development, the people, and our environment. As a citizen and prior to becoming District 5 Commissioner, I fought with Kelly to help our Orange County residents’ voices be heard and their needs to be met as well as protecting our environment, natural resources, and wildlife over the greed of special interests and developers.

As District 5 Commissioner, I have continued to work with Kelly Semrad on policy reform to benefit Orange County residents, sustainable development initiatives, protection of our environment, and community advocacy and activist projects. I appointed her to the 2021 Orange County Redistricting Committee where she advocated to protect minority populations, rural settlements, and to keep communities together in the redistricting process. I also appointed her as co-chair to the District 5 Neighborhood Advisory Council.

Dr. Kelly Semrad is the only Mayoral Candidate that is refusing donations from special interests and developers.  She has been fighting alongside different groups of people throughout Orange County to advocate for people and our environment. She is an internationally recognized expert in socio economic policy reform for tourism destinations, a UCF professor, UCF Knight Graduate, and a community activist. She fights to enhance Orange County residents’ quality of life, to ensure equity, and to protect our environment.

 

She is running to ensure that the needs of people, the will of voters, and the protection of our environment is guaranteed.  To date, the current administration has ignored the will of voters and has failed to protect our environment and put people first before special interests.
